Satpol PP Prepares Personnel for Public Order in Jakarta

The Jakarta Satpol PP held a ceremony for Operation Bina Tertib Praja at Plaza Selatan Monas, Central Jakarta Pusat yesterday.

According to Arifin, Head of Jakarta Satpol PP, the operation was aimed at creating a sense of public order in Jakarta.

"Today's operation, we deploy 350 personnel. Of course, what we do is for the community. We also take a polite and humanist approach, and there is no arrogant action. My hope is all people can be orderly and obey all regulations properly, especially on the streets of Jakarta," he expressed, as quoted by the Jakarta Provincial Government's press release, Friday (8/2).

Satpol PP Deploys 260 Personnel to Anticipate Brawls in East Jakarta

According to him, the operation has been active since yesterday and will end on August 31, 2024. It targeted violators of Bylaw Number 8/2007 Article 7 paragraph 1 on every person or group of people who do not have the authority are prohibited from regulating traffic at road intersections, bends, or roundabouts to get compensation for their services.

It was also done for violators of Bylaw Number 8/2007 Article 40, namely becoming beggars, buskers, street vendors, and car cleaners, ordering other people to become beggars, buskers, street vendors, and buying from street vendors or giving money or goods to beggars, buskers, and car cleaners.

"For the violators that we discipline, they will receive a warning letter and be given education that the actions they have taken have violated Bylaw Number 8/2007," he explained.

Then if during supervision the violator commits another violation, personnel will reach out to the violator and take him/her to the Social Agency (Dinsos) Center to undergo a Minor Offense (Tipiring) trial sanction.

"This minor crime has indeed been regulated in Article 61 that violators will be threatened with sanctions, namely a maximum fine by Rp 20 million and a maximum imprisonment of 60 days. Then, the violators will be brought to the trial process and will be decided by the judge regarding the sanctions," he added.

As for the information, the ceremony was also attended by Jakarta Dinsos Head, Premi Lestari and representatives of Jakarta Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Agency.
